Site: Taq-I Bustan

Description: Like the facade of the Roman triumphal arch, where victories hover at the corners of the arch, the facade of the central ayvan at Taq-i Bustan bears converging images of winged beings that bear the diadem, the symbol of divine kingship, and lobed bowls, heaped with symbols of bounty. Stylized floral scrolls are marginal embellishments of the main sculptural composition inside the archways.
