Description: Ardashir’s gold coin., the dinar, portrays his profile head facing right, with the distinctive crown which Ardashir devised for himself. This consists of a simple skull cap, tied around the head with a diadem with flying ribbons, surmounted by the hair gathered in a high silken globe, the korymbos. Ardeshir’s inscription is written in Pahlavi, or Middle Persian, along the pearl border on the obverse of the coin
