Description: Shapur’s triumph of AD 256, also depicted in rock reliefs, finds graphic expression in a fine cameo, in the Bibliothèque Nationale, Paris, that shows an equestrian combat of Shapur and Valerian in which the Roman emperor is seized, according to Shapur’s own statement, “with our own hand.”
