Description: Shapur’s gold coin. dinar, in the Hermitage Museum, St. Petersburg, portrays the profile head facing right, with his distinctive crenellated crown, surmounted by a ball of hair, the korymbos.. His shoulder-length hair and tied beard end in light curls. The reverse of the coin shows a fire altar flanked by two crowned figures holding staffs.
