Abstract:

Digitization and Internet together have revolutionized many disciplines of research, in particular, humanities and social sciences.  Meanwhile, many innovative research projects encourage more collaboration and make their results easier to reuse and re-purpose.  The important issues of this development include: content digitization and management, the platform that integrates digitized content and provides new functionalities such as geo-spatial nature, support powerful searching, indexing and metadata management, web tools, new architecture of user participation, etc.

To promote and encourage the open collaboration, resource sharing and content standardization, experiences of Taiwan’s TELDAP (Taiwan e-Learning and Digital Archives Program), ECAI and other projects will be demonstrated by examples and showcases here at AAS.  We hope to organize discussions focusing on research, preservation, sharing and promotion digital heritage through AAS.  Furthermore, a newly proposed concept of “digital humanities” has gained much attention, we hope we may bring the examples in Asia Pacific to discuss the challenges and impacts of this concept on the research in humanity and social sciences.
